Strategic Plan 2008/09

The Strategic Plan was revised in 200/09. It constitues the guiding blueprint for the direction and development of the Federation over the coming years.

Key Objectives

Our recent discussions have resulted in these key objectives being identified:

Objectives: - Advocacy and Lobbying

  1. To be the leading industry advocate and influencer with central and local government and other key decision makers
  2. To be recognised as a leader in the industry by key media organisations and regularly sought for public comment
  3. To be consulted on all legal and regulatory changes that affect industry
  4. Be a key source of in-depth information on the industry to support activities in this area

Objectives: - Maintain and Enhance Member Benefits

  1. To inform and promote "Operatesafe" to members
  2. Develop benchmarking scheme for members to assess their performance
  3. Promote "QEST"
  4. Develop and maintain a suite of member services
  5. Continue and improve the current level of technical services
  6. Develop environmental best practice - "Green Book"
  7. Build and develop a Continuing Education (CE) policy

Objectives: - Communications

  1. To upgrade the membership database
  2. To prepare a monthly newsletter
  3. Prepare a tailored questionnaire to solicit feedback from members
  4. Upgrade the website
  5. Seek external advice in developing a 'communications plan'

Objectives: - Networking

  1. To support and promote branch activities
  2. Continue to host and improve the annual conference
  3. To host two social events annually for members and contacts
  4. To ensure attendance at the industry summit and other relevant national and international conferences

Objectives: - Industry Promotion

  1. To promote the industry generally by raising its profile
  2. Improve media coverage both nationally and locally
  3. Seek additional sponsors and advocates
  4. Commit resources and personnel to succession planning
  5. Seek funding for developing a recruitment resource
